Packwood History & Location
Packwood is a small, down to earth, “garagiste” winery on a beautiful country estate in Harkerville, equidistant from Plettenberg Bay (20kms) and Knysna (25kms). Situated in the middle of the Garden Route, we’re surrounded by pristine indigenous forests and nature in abundance. Adventure off the beaten track to reach a unique destination.
Originally from England, farmers Peter and Vicky Gent fell in love with Packwood whilst on honeymoon in South Africa in 1997. The dairy was established in 1998 and later in 2006 the vineyard was planted. Today this agritourism estate offers sustainable boutique wines, handmade cheese lunches and country style accommodation.
Visit us to sip and savour our wines and bubbly, stay a while and enjoy one of our homemade farmhouse cheese lunches and relax, taking in the wonderful views across the farm. Our country house and cosy cottage offers guests the opportunity to reconnect with nature, central to all the attractions and activities the Garden Route has to offer.

Wine Tasting: open Tue to Fri, 10am-4.30pm & Sat 10am-3pm.
Cheese Lunch: available Tue to Fri, 10am-3.30pm & Sat 10am-2pm.
Eggs Benedict Breakfasts: available Tue to Fri 8.30am-11am & Sat 10am-11am.

Packwood Wine Tasting
The vineyard was established in 2006 to Pinot noir, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. Our vines are planted on a gently rolling hill, 330 metres above sea level at the highest point of the farm facing the sun and the sea. Sustainable practices are promoted throughout the vineyard.
On warm days, wine tasting is served outside at the tasting area or on the lawn. We offer Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot noir, Blanc de noir and when available, Packwood bubbly.
After your introduction to Packwood Wines why not stay a little longer and savour one of our cheese lunches, served in a very relaxing environment, enjoy the fruits of our hard labour and take in the views across the farm. Our lunches are made from our own pasture fed Jersey cows, served with home baked bread, preserves and a splash of salad. 100% sustainable. Optional organically grown local charcuterie is also available.
Wine Tasting Prices
Wine tasting will usually include our Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Blanc de noir, Pinot noir and bubbly when available. This can change as stock dictates, as we produce only small quantities of wine. Please contact the estate for prices for wine tasting and our cheese lunches.
Packwood Restaurants
Please note we do not have a full service restaurant at Packwood, however we produce homemade cheese lunches which can be enjoyed at the luncheon area after a wine tasting.
We also offer an Eggs Benedict breakfast enjoyed by many visitors with a bottle of bubbly. Breakfast is made with farm fresh organic eggs, lashings of hollandaise sauce and home baked bread, served with a delicious view over the estate, across to the majestic mountains and distant ocean.

Packwood Accommodation
Step gently, inhale deeply and open your eyes to the beauty of nature. Relax, unwind and experience a taste of country living, stay at our Country House or farm cottage. In addition to enjoying wines from the estate, we offer optional breakfast and bubbles, a homemade cheese lunch and glorious views. We are at the doorstep to Sanparks which is ideal for hiking and cycling through pristine forests. We also have MTB trails through beautiful farmland, ravines and stunning coastal routes.
Our Winemaker’s Cottage is available for 2 adults and is hidden amongst the trees. It includes an enclosed private deck to the front and small terrace to the rear. Our adults-only and self-catering Country House sleeps 2-4 guests on an exclusive use basis. Facilities include 3 bedrooms, fully equipped kitchen, braai (BBQ), a living room with log fire and outdoor pool (shared with owners).
