Oldenburg History & Location
8 Kilometres from Stellenbosch, on the road to Franschhoek, you will find us off the beaten track, at the end of a winding road that leads deep into the Banghoek Valley. Our unique location benefits from the confluence of 8 Natural Elements which create a distinctive terroir, allowing us to make wines that truly reflect their origins.
Situated in an elevated valley of outstanding beauty, Oldenburg Vineyards is surrounded by a spectacular mountain amphitheatre. Our vineyards are arranged like puzzle pieces around Rondekop Hill. This centrepiece affords us a 360 degree perspective on our terroir – something quite unique.
Our philosophy is less is more – our intervention in the vineyards is minimal, allowing the grapes to benefit from the influence of our cool climate, diverse soils and mountain terroir. The natural beauty of our surroundings inspire us to practice sustainability in every step of our approach.

Wine Tasting: open Mon to Sat & Public Holidays 10am-5pm (last seatings 4.30pm, bookings essential).

Oldenburg Wine Tasting
At Oldenburg we produce several wine ranges. Our Rondekop series comprises our iconic wines, epitomising our remarkable terroir. The Oldenburg Vineyards series is a collection of exceptional single cultivar wines, showcasing the diversity of our vineyards, soils and microclimate. Our CL Series features wines which convey the refreshing coolness of our extraordinary terroir.
The Tasting Room at Oldenburg Vineyards is inspired by the natural beauty of our surroundings, a tranquil space where visitors can relax. Expect a warm welcome, picturesque vistas and a taste of our finest wines. Get to know our wines, our story and share our connection to this special place.
Wine Tasting Prices
Oldenburg offer a selection of tastings for your enjoyment. All include a complimentary platter of locally sourced nibbles.
The CL° Tasting includes 2 of our concept range blends (1 white and 1 red) for R150pp, our 7 single cultivar Oldenburg Vineyards Tasting costs R200pp and our 3 ultra-premium 3 red wine Rondekop Tasting costs R320pp.
We also offer an 8 Elements Tasting which includes a selection of wines across all our ranges (R300pp), a Vertical Tasting where you can explore four vintages of a single varietal, plus a Library Tasting of older vintages, presented to showcase the ageing potential and development of our wines.
The prices for these tastings range from R300-R550pp and are changed on a monthly basis. The wines for these tastings are extremely limited and should be booked in advance in order to guarantee availability.
Oldenburg Restaurants
There is no restaurant at Oldenburg however a complimentary platter of nibbles is served with each tasting. Alternatively, the town of Stellenbosch is just over 10 minutes’ drive away.
Oldenburg Tours & Activities
Oldenburg do not currently offer any scheduled cellar or vineyard tours.
Oldenburg Accommodation
Our 6 Bedroom Homestead offers the luxury and exclusivity of villa living in a secluded and tranquil location. With a meticulously restored and modernised interior, The Homestead retains an air of its 200 year history through the traditional Cape Dutch style.
Surrounded by rolling lawns, pristine gardens, olive groves and vineyards, beautiful verandas serve as stylish areas to entertain and an exquisite swimming pool and gym caters for both leisurely and active pursuits. Inside, facilities include a fully equipped kitchen, dining room, multiple entertainment areas, fireplaces and an open braai (BBQ). The 6 Bedroom Homestead is ideal for families, friends or small corporate groups, maximum 12 guests.
Pricing
The Homestead pricing starts at R27,000 during low season and includes the first 2 rooms. A surcharge of R5,000 per additional room applies. A minimum stay of 2 nights applies year round, except between 15 December – 5 January when a minimum stay of 7 nights applies.
Daily servicing, a full breakfast, snacks, soft drinks, premium spirits and wine from Oldenburg Vineyards are included in the rate.
If staying for 3 nights or longer, a South African Braai or a 3-Course Dinner is also included in the rate.
