Guardian Peak History & Location
Located off the scenic R44 road between Stellenbosch and Somerset West, Guardian Peak is named after the towering peak which dominates Stellenbosch Mountain.
The Estate was founded in 1998 by Jean Engelbrecht, who combined his knowledge of international wine markets with his experience at his family wine estate in Stellenbosch, to create a range of everyday-drinking, fresh and approachable wines. Two decades later, we pride ourselves on producing sustainable wines of consistent quality that are friendly and easy to enjoy.
A lifestyle without wine is incomplete. Our ‘Live with Wine’ philosophy is built on our firm belief that wine and food should be inseparable in our daily diet – it being not as much a matter of appreciating wine with food, but rather the enjoyment of wine and food. We trust that our wines and our food will fulfil the latter.
Guardian Peak Operating Hours
Wine Tasting: open daily 9am-5pm.
Restaurant: open daily for lunch 12pm-3.30pm & Wed to Sat for dinner 6pm-9pm.

Guardian Peak Wine Tasting
Guardian Peak produce a number of wine ranges, from the approachable easy drinking range of the same name, to our elegant Stellenbosch Reserve wines, our Donkiesbaai Range inspired by our holidays on the West Coast and our Afrikaans Range, a celebration of South African culture.
Wine Tasting Prices
Guardian Peak offers a selection of tastings by the glass. These cost from R10 per glass for any of the 5 Guardian Peak wines, to R15 per glass for the 6 Stellenbosch Reserve wines, R15 for the small Drink Afrikaans Range and R20 for any of the 4 Donkiesbaai Range. A cheese platter is also available from R155.
Guardian Peak Restaurants
Join us at our bistro-style restaurant with magnificent views of the Stellenbosch and Helderberg Mountains. Our seasonal menu showcases fresh local produce that pairs perfectly with our wide selection of wines.
Menus & Pricing
The casual restaurant offers a wide selection of salads, grilled meats, fresh fish and indulgent desserts. Main courses from R140pp.
Guardian Peak Tours & Activities
Guardian Peak currently do not offer cellar or farm tours.
