Digger’s Home History & Location
Diggers Home Estate is situated in Tulbagh amongst the beautiful, tranquil mountain ranges. Just a 1 hour 30 min drive from Cape Town, our tasting room is surrounded by dams, mountains and vineyards.
The farm was established by a diamond miner from Kimberly in the late 1940’s and it nestles in the east facing slopes of the Obiqua Mountains. Originally a fruit and livestock farm with a small dairy, vineyards were planted by a wine maker from Sonoma County, California in 1999 and the flinty soils and terroir produce excellent quality grapes.
The current owners, David and Janet Anderson, bought the farm in 2011. The wine cellar was started in 2017 with 2018 being the first vintage to be bottled at the Estate. We look forward to welcoming you for a tasting or lunch – please note we are also dog friendly and have space for kids to play on our lawn.
Digger’s Home Operating Hours
Wine Tasting: open daily, 10am-5pm.
Restaurant: open Fri to Sun, 11.30am-4pm.
Build Your Own Burger Nights: Fridays from 5.30pm (pre-booking essential & minimum numbers apply).

Digger’s Home Wine Tasting
Digger’s Home original four wines – an Unwooded Chardonnay, Shiraz, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon – won Veritas awards in their first year. In 2020, we added a Rosé and red blend to our range. Wine tasting is available inside, outside on our large covered veranda or on our spacious lawns, hosted by the wine maker himself or trained personnel. Enjoy beautiful views of the dam, mountains and vineyards.
Wine Tasting Prices
Priced at R50pp, waived if a bottle of wine is purchased by two guests. Wine can also be ordered by the glass or bottle and a selection of soft drinks are available.
Digger’s Home Restaurants
The restaurant at Digger’s Home offers a variety of flavours, focusing on quality and consistency. Guests can relax on our outdoor veranda which boasts scenic views of the lawns, vineyards, mountains and dam.
Menus & Pricing
Sample items include Steamed Mussels, Venison Carpaccio, Calamari Strips, Chicken Burger, Lasagne, Fish Cakes and other delights. Main courses from R95.
Digger’s Home Tours & Activities
Currently Digger’s Home do not offer cellar or farm tours, however are popular for private functions, events and weddings. Please contact the Estate for more information and they will be able to assist.
