Clouds History & Location
Situated on one of the world’s most beautiful mountain passes, Clouds Wine and Guest Estate is a boutique hotel and working wine farm just 10 minutes from Stellenbosch, 20 minutes from Franschhoek and only 45 minutes from Cape Town International airport.
Great lovers of food, wine and design, a Dutch couple purchased this petite Estate with its own vineyards, accommodation and extraordinary views in 2012 and turned it into a dream destination. Designer furniture and original art by a selection of South African artists feature in all the rooms and around the lounge, bar and gardens.
Surrounded by the dramatic Simonsberg and Drakenstein mountains, we offer premium accommodation, a range of wines under our own label and a contemporary restaurant, making any visit to Clouds Estate difficult to forget.

Wine Tasting: open daily, 12pm-5pm (last tasting 4.30pm). Pre-booking strongly recommended.
Restaurant: open daily, 12.30pm-3pm then 6pm-8.30pm. Pre-booking strongly recommended.

Clouds Wine Tasting
Our Mediterranean climate supports the cultivation of some of the world’s best wines. In 2012 we planted Pinot Noir, Cabernet, Merlot, Petite Verdot and Chardonnay, together with the Estate’s renowned Sauvignon Blanc, to make up the annual harvest.
Clouds is famous for its “pink” Sauvignon Blanc, with fruity aromas including kiwifruit and gooseberry. Our light yellow Sauvignon Blanc, with hints of grapefruit and granadilla, is a real crowd pleaser and the new Bordeaux style Red Blend is equally enjoyable now but will mature beautifully over the next 5 years.
Wine Tasting Prices
Enjoy wine tasting on our deck for R80pp for 5 wines, or R100pp including snacks (nuts and chips). Please note due to our size we only have a limited number of seats available, so pre-booking is strongly recommended.




Clouds Restaurants
Clouds serves a small, intimate menu for lunch and dinner, in the relaxed atmosphere of our restaurant or alfresco when the weather permits. Please note hotel guests enjoy priority for restaurant bookings so we recommend calling ahead to check space.
Menus & Pricing
Our food philosophy is fresh, seasonal and bursting with flavour. Our chefs source the highest quality ingredients and believe nothing brings people together like good food. We grow our own herbs and use mostly local ingredients.
At breakfast you can expect fresh juices, filled croissants, French toast and full English breakfasts. At lunch, we offer light meals such as open sandwiches, salmon noodles, flatbreads, soups and fresh pasta. Our dinner menu includes a small selection of starters, mains and desserts including choices such as tender beef fillet with hand cut chips, fish beurre blanc and crème brulle. Main courses from R160pp.


Clouds Tours & Activities
Currently Clouds do not offer cellar tours however are popular for events and small weddings. Contact the Estate for any group enquiries and they will be able to assist.
Clouds Accommodation
The Estate features 7 Hotel Rooms in the main section of the property and 6 Villas set in landscaped gardens, surrounded by vineyards. We have two pools on site, with one dedicated to Villa guests only.
All accommodation has been designed to offer guests panoramic views of the landscape via floor to ceiling windows and feature designer furnishings, original South African art, top of the range technology and a complimentary mini bar stocked on arrival. Please note children 16 and above are welcome in the hotel and children 12 and above in the villas.
Pricing
Prices for Hotel Rooms start from R2450 per room per night including breakfast for 2, and for Villas start from R3950 per night including breakfast (based on 2 people). This is for low season (winter).
