Black Elephant Vintners History & Location
‘We Are The Misfits Of The Wine Industry, The Rebels Of The Vine’. Surrounded by majestic mountains, you will discover Black Elephant Vintners in the quaint village of Franschhoek, home to some of South Africa’s most sought-after wine and dine experiences. Our mission is to bring truth to the wine industry and create experiences that turn convention on its head.
Pure synchronicity and fortuitous friendships – as well as a deep and sincere love for wine – led to the birth of Black Elephant Vintners. Kevin, Raymond and Jacques combined their uniquely diverse skillsets in an earnest endeavour to reclaim fun in the creative process of winemaking. They established their title as the rebels of the vine by constantly trying to demystify the winemaking process to all enthusiasts.
We introduce fun into the art of serious winemaking, whilst capturing the taste and terroir of the Franschhoek valley in our wines. Our diverse brand portfolio enables us to provide a range of wines with unique physical characteristics that appeal to different desires, tastes and occasions.

Black Elephant Vintners Wine Tasting
Following our Rebels of the Vine mantra, traditional wine and cheese/food pairings are not what you will find at Black Elephant Vintners, however we offer a variety of options from our dextrously composed Music and Wine pairing options, straight forward W.T.F simple tastings to our discounted sales Walk-in-Wednesday.
This novel approach to enhance the experience of the wine tasting process by utilising taste, touch, smell and sight is what distinguishes us from the others. We currently offer a number of experiences to suit your needs, please see below.
Wine Tasting Prices
Our 3 Music and Wine pairing options are available at 11am on Saturdays only, subject to a minimum of 5 people and a max of 10 people. Pre-booking is required, as is a deposit of R100pp. Music Pairing options include:
1 hour bubbly Cap Classique & Music Experience including 5 MCCs from our Golden Circle Range for R150pp. The 2 hour Wine Only and Music Experience includes 10 Wines from our Festival & Backstage Range for R225pp. The 2.5 hour Black Elephant Experience includes Golden Circle, Festival & Backstage Wines for R300pp.
On Fridays we also offer a W.T.F. option (Wine Tasting Fridays), available on the hour between 11am-3pm. These are more informal simple tastings for a max of 8 people at a time (pre-booking recommended). Walk in Wednesday is for takeaway sales, at a 15% discount. This is available between 11am-3pm every Wed (no booking required).
Should you wish to wine taste outside of these hours, we have partnered with Urban Tastings at Bovine Restaurant in central Franschhoek, where you can taste our full range of wines on a walk-in basis (open daily).
Black Elephant Vintners Tours & Activities
Currently there are no Cellar Tours available however contact Black Elephant Vintners for any requests and they may be able to assist. The winery are often involved in festivals, events and pop ups around Franschhoek, so keep an eye out for latest schedules on their website.
